As nationally renowned educators in law and medicine, Widener School of Law and Thomas Jefferson University are pleased to offer two joint degrees – Juris Doctor/ Master of Public Health (JD/MPH) and Master of Jurisprudence/Master of Public Health(MJ/MPH) – the only programs of their kind in the Delaware Valley.
The JD/MPH and MJ/MPH degrees are designed to provide the knowledge and skills required to thrive in health law practice, advocacy, and policy. They will benefit a wide range of healthcare and legal professionals, including nurses, policy makers, nursing home administrators,
paralegals, government employees, and private-practice lawyers and litigators.
Our goal is to place you at the forefront of the policy, regulatory, and insurance issues needed for a successful career in public health law. Students in both programs gain legal expertise in a wide array of legal and health administration topics:
• Public health policy
• Emergency preparedness planning
• Regulatory issues and compliance
• Confidentiality
• Bioethics
• Disability law
• Managed care
Earn a joint JD/MPH degree full-time in four years or an MJ/MPH degree part-time in four or more years. Class locations will alternate between Widener Law's Delaware campus and Jefferson's Center City Philadelphia location.
