Jefferson Occupational Therapy Program Ranked
13th in the Nation by U.S. News & World Report
PHILADELPHIA, PA — April 10, 2008 — The Department of Occupational Therapy at Thomas Jefferson’s University’s College of Health Professions (JCHP) ranks 13th in the nation, according to U.S. News & World Report’s “America’s Best Graduate Schools for 2008.”
“We are delighted to be recognized by the U.S. News and World Report rankings for graduate programs in Occupational Therapy” remarks Department of Occupational Therapy and Jefferson School of Health Professions Chair Janice Burke. “This distinction attests to the tremendous commitment of our highly talented faculty, the enthusiastic activity of our students, and the ongoing support and encouragement from the College administration.”
The JCHP Department of Occupational Therapy (OT) currently offers four degree programs in OT, a combined bachelor’s/master’s degree (BS/MSOT), an entry-level master’s (EMOT), an online post-professional master’s, and a clinical doctorate (OTD).
Jefferson offers its occupational therapy students the opportunity to focus on particular areas of specialty including: early intervention and school age practice, community health and participation, older adults/gerontology, rehabilitation, hand therapy, and sensory integration.
Collaboration with clinical sites, community organizations, and alumni throughout the area are a hallmark of the JCHP Occupational Therapy program, offering students many opportunities to gain hands-on experience conducting research and providing occupational therapy.
Thomas Jefferson University is an academic health center comprised of Jefferson College of Health Professions, which includes the Schools of Health Professions, Nursing, and Pharmacy; Jefferson Medical College; and Jefferson College of Graduate Studies. In addition to the Department of Occupational Therapy, the Jefferson School of Health Professions includes the Departments of Bioscience Technologies, Couple and Family Therapy, General Studies, Physical Therapy, and Radiologic Sciences. Jefferson students learn in a community of clinicians, physicians, researchers, and educators and have access to world-class facilities and learning opportunities.
