As part of this year’s Allied Health Professions Week celebration, Jefferson College of Health Professions students, faculty and staff pitched in pennies (and other currency!) for a good cause and raised $437.20 to benefit The Career Wardrobe.
For three weeks in October and November, the JCHP community engaged in a game of Penny Wars, tossing coins into jars labeled for each academic division. Through friendly competition to earn points for their respective departments, participants were able to raise a significant sum, which was used to purchase scrubs for local women transitioning into the workforce.
With the Penny Wars funds, as well as scrubs donated during the same period of time, the College donated 27 pairs of scrubs to the non-profit.
“I’m delighted with the outcome of this year’s Allied Health Professions Week community outreach,” says James B. Erdmann, PhD, Dean of the Jefferson College of Health Professions. “The interdisciplinary camaraderie among students from all of the programs and the corresponding support of local health professionals represent the best of Jefferson. Our students, faculty, and staff can be proud of all they accomplished this Allied Health Professions Week.”
