Jefferson Medical College
Department of Psychiatry & Human Behavior

The department is fully dedicated to carrying out the mission of Thomas Jefferson University, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, and the Jefferson Health Care Network. Our support takes the following forms:
EDUCATION: We provide medical students, residents, and fellows with a rich and rewarding educational experience as they rotate through all our clinical services: Adult (Inpatient and Outpatient); Emergency; Consultation-Liaison; Substance Abuse; Pain; Child and Adolescent; Sleep Disorders; and various specialty electives. All our residency and fellowship programs are approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education's Residency Review Committees. Information on our residency training program can be found on the Residency pages.
PATIENT CARE: We are dedicated to providing excellent psychiatric care to patients in the Delaware Valley area.
RESEARCH: The Department is focused on clinical research. We investigate the symptoms and treatments of various psychiatric illnesses, including Alzheimer’s disease and novel treatment modalities (MBAT-Mindfulness-based Art Therapy).
The department is made up of a large number of skilled physicians, psychologists, a social worker, a nurse practitioner, researchers, and dedicated support staff. Faculty and staff have family, psychiatric, and mental health specialties.
