- was appointed president-elect of the Southern Jersey Chapter of the Emergency Nurses Association in January
- gave two podium presentations at the New Jersey Nursing Students, Inc. Annual Convention in Atlantic City in February: “Unraveling the ABCs of Nursing Degrees” and “Family Presence”
- was accepted to the PhD Nursing Education Program at the University of Northern Colorado, beginning in September

- was the invited speaker at the Northeast Conference of the New England Chapter of the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants in Northampton, Massachusetts, in October, where she presented “Research: Getting to the Heart of the Matter.”
- was the invited speaker at the Annual Conference of the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants in San Antonio, TX in March, where she presented “The Journey to Advanced Practice Nursing: Are We There Yet?”
- is a finalist for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation IOM Grant Program

- will be presented with the 2012 Thomas Jefferson University Lindback Award for Distinguished Teaching by Dr. Vergare on June 6th

- was elected as Director-at-Large of The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Executive Nurse Fellows Alumni Association
- was an invited plenary speaker at the 3M Global IV Leadership Summit in St. Paul, MN on April 26. She gave the presentation, “Know thyself: An essential leadership ingredient.”
- was a finalist for the Nursing Spectrum Excellence in Nursing Education and Mentoring award and was honored during the awards gala in May
- along with D.L. Borton and D.M. Rumovitz, published “Infection preventionists’ job descriptions: Do they reflect expanded roles and responsibilities?” in American Journal of Infection Control in 2012

- was the invited Keynote Speaker for the 3rd annual meeting of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation New Jersey Initiative in Princeton in October, where she presented “Education Progression for NJ Ensuring a Diverse and Qualified Workforce for Tomorrow.”
- was an invited speaker at the 2012 NLN Leadership Conference in Atlanta, Georgia in January, where she presented “Transforming Leadership into Action: Competency-Based Models Are Our Future.”
- was appointed to the editorial board of Thomas Jefferson University’s Health Policy Newsletter in January
- was appointed to the Middle States Accreditation Taskforce on Assessment of Student Admissions and Academic Support Services and to the Pre-entry Immersion Task force for the AACN Robert Wood Johnson Foundation New Careers in Nursing Scholarship Program in February
- was named a semi-finalist for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Executive Nurse Fellow in March
- and Julia Ward, PhD, RN, were awarded a $50,000 grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation for New Careers in Nursing: Pre-Immersion Program
