James B. Erdmann, PhD, Awards for Excellence in Interprofessional Education & Collaborative Practice

These prestigious awards honor Jefferson faculty members, staff members, administrators, and students whose leadership efforts in support of interprofessional education (IPE) and collaborative practice (CP) have resulted in sustained impact on Jefferson colleagues, students, and patients.  

Recipients are selected by a committee of peers on the basis of a peer or self-nomination letter and their curriculum vitae/resume. 

The James B. Erdmann Award Categories

The James B. Erdmann Individual Award for Excellence in Interprofessional Collaborative

This award honors a clinician from Jefferson Health whose leadership efforts in team-based collaborative practice have resulted in sustained involvement and impact on team members, patients, and/or students.

The James B. Erdmann Team Award for Excellence in Interprofessional Collaborative Practice

This award honors one clinical team whose primary responsibility is clinical care, that demonstrates excellence in team-based, person-centered care, and whose efforts have resulted in sustained impact on team members and patients.

The James B. Erdmann Administrator/Staff Award for Excellence in Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice

This award honors one non-clinical administrator and/or staff member from the Jefferson community who is not a faculty member, who demonstrates excellence in the support of interprofessional education and collaborative practice, and whose ongoing efforts have resulted in sustained impact on the education of Jefferson students and/or the care of Jefferson patients.

The James B. Erdmann Student Award for Excellence in Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice

This award honors Thomas Jefferson University students or student teams who demonstrate excellence in the support of interprofessional education and collaborative practice, and whose efforts have had or have the potential to have sustained positive impact on the institution and its IPE programs, team-based care and/or interprofessional research.

Recognizing Facilitators Supporting Interprofessional Practice

JCIPE is proud to formally recognize the contributions of our facilitators in support of interprofessional education and collaborative practice. 

Initiator Tier

Initiators: Lay the foundation for interprofessional competency attainment, aiding learners in defining and valuing team-based, patient-centered care. 

Individuals in this tier have volunteered up to 6.99 hours in the 2023-2024 academic year in support of interprofessional education and collaborative practice.

Builder Tier

Builders: Build on the interprofessional foundation, committing to greater engagement with learners as they develop and implement interprofessional competencies.

Individuals in this tier have volunteered 7 to 9.99 hours in the 2023-2024 academic year in support of interprofessional education and collaborative practice.

Collaborator Tier

Collaborators: Model interprofessional competencies and solidify their value for learners through deep commitment to a single program and/or broad commitment to multiple programs.

Individuals in this tier have volunteered 10 to 16.99 hours in the 2023-2024 academic year in support of interprofessional education and collaborative practice.

Leader Tier

Leaders: Provide collaborative leadership across JCIPE programs, supporting connection among them, growth of the culture of teamwork at Jefferson, and visibility of JCIPE at Jefferson and nationally. 

Individuals in this tier have volunteered 17 or more hours in the 2023-2024 academic year in support of interprofessional education and collaborative practice.
