Thomas Jefferson University Expands Yellow Ribbon Program Benefits

In giving back to those who serve our country, Thomas Jefferson University has expanded Yellow Ribbon Program benefits for post-9/11 military veterans, active-duty service members and their families, who wish to pursue one of the school’s many higher education degree and certificate programs.

Designed to help eligible students attend private institutions at little or no personal cost, the Yellow Ribbon Program covers educational expenses that exceed the national maximum reimbursement under the Post 9/11 GI Bill. In doing so, these schools enter into agreements with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to waive some or all of their tuition cost, which the VA matches to provide enhanced benefits that pay for tuition, books and living expenses.

To that end, Jefferson has increased its contributions, starting in the 2024-25 school year, from $3,214 to $10,000 for undergraduates and from $2,000 to $5,000 for graduate students. The University will no longer limit the number of Yellow Ribbon recipients, but rather provide this benefit to all program-eligible students.

“Just like most professionals these days, military service members and veterans are looking for opportunities that will give them a leg up on career advancement,” says Dr. Susan Aldridge, University president. “So by expanding Yellow Ribbon benefits, we are not only providing a wide range of high-quality academic options that meet their needs, we are also giving back to those brave men and women who have given so much to us.”
