Meet Our Student: Emma Hogan

Emma is in the interior architecture program working towards her master’s degree.

Why did you choose Jefferson?

I chose Jefferson as it had the best graduate program opportunity for someone coming from a background outside of architecture, and made me feel like my knowledge from undergrad was useful rather than needing to be abandoned to study in a new field.

Where are you from originally?

South Jersey, I commute back and forth to classes.

What is the best part of your studies?

The best part of my studies is learning about the world of design and letting myself be more creative. I was used to reading and writing quite often and only got to be creative when I had free time. This path has allowed me to engage this part of myself every day which I am thankful for.

What’s something people would be surprised to find out about you?

I plan to live a very simple life. I am less concerned about working with big names or firms and focus a large part of my life on living happily and peacefully. My biggest goals are to create an impact at a community level and live a quiet life on a small farm.

Tell us about an award you’ve recently received:

I have just received the third-place prize for the Jacob’s student competition, which really boosted my confidence and courage to branch out and try new things that may seem overwhelming and intimidating at first glance. It also allowed me to see how I could react under the pressure of time constraints when completing work or exams which allowed me to focus on how to better my time management skills.
