Meet Our Student: Hayley Warnalis

Hayley is earning her BS in interior design degree.

Why did you choose Jefferson?

I chose Jefferson for its well-recognized interior design program and its proximity to the city without being within the city. I also valued the small studio/class sizes and being able to work more closely with your professors because of the size. My mom is also a Jefferson alum!

Where are you from originally?

I am originally from Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania.

What is the best part of your studies?

The best part of my studies are the people who I am surrounded with! Whether it be my friends or my professors, everyone is always willing to help one another out to learn and grow.

What’s something people would be surprised to find out about you?

People would be surprised to find out that I’m good at archery! I’m known to not be the most athletic person, but I’ve actually made a number of bullseyes when I’ve done it before.

Tell us about a project you’re working on.

A project I’m currently working on is my capstone project, where I’m looking into female connection and its relationship to the built environment. It explores how spaces, often designed with a male-centric lens, exclude women from fully engaging with the built environment. By focusing on female connection and reimagining spaces to be more inclusive and welcoming, the project aims to foster environments where women feel comfortable gathering and connecting, even in areas traditionally dominated by men.
