Meet Our Student: Jaysa Even
Jaysa is currently in the BS in interior design program.
Why did you choose Jefferson?
I chose Jefferson for their high-ranked interior design program, competitive volleyball team, and location near the city.
Where are you from originally?
Colorado Springs, CO.
What is the best part of your studies?
I love the technicality of design while still getting to be creative. It’s rewarding watching all the details you work so hard on over the semester come together so meticulously. I also love being able to work together with my peers in small class sizes and create personal relationships with my professors. The program encourages many opportunities to cross different majors for collaboration, which makes our research and design very hands-on.
What’s something people would be surprised to find out about you?
I am a student-athlete — part of the volleyball team here at Jefferson!
Tell us about an award you’ve recently received:
A few weeks ago, I was selected by the interior design department at Jefferson to compete in the 19th Annual Jacobs Student Design Competition. In a tight six-hour charette, we were tasked with designing a 6,000sf lobby and amenity space for a brand of our invention. The deliverables and time limit were difficult; however, I felt incredibly prepared by my program to tackle it head on. I enjoyed the liberation of devising a unique story behind the brand, tailoring my own design and program to fit the company’s needs. Despite the challenging process, it was rewarding seeing I could compete as one of the youngest students and represent Jefferson’s talented program!
