Research & Clinical Interest

Yinka completed her nursing and midwifery education in the United Kingdom where she also obtained a Master’s degree in Public Health and Health Promotion. Yinka has practiced midwifery in a variety of settings across three continents. She practiced as a Registered Midwife in England, where she attended home, birth center, and hospital births. She also served as a “clinical mentor” to nursing and midwifery students, and is certified in teaching and assessing clinical practice. Yinka has worked with the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) overseas, where she obtained certification to provide sexual and reproductive health services. She has facilitated dozens of workshops, teaching traditional birth attendants, nurses and midwives, in the recognition and management of obstetric emergencies.

After moving to the United States, Yinka obtained a postmasters certificate from the Midwifery & Women's Health Programs of Philadelphia University, in order to further expand her scope of practice. Yinka is passionate about supporting women through the different phases of life from adolescence through menopause and beyond. Yinka practices as a certified nurse midwife in one of the most diverse and largest OBGYN practices in North Texas, where she provides full scope, evidence-based care to women of all ages, with hospital privileges at two facilities. Yinka believes in providing “woman-centered” care at all times. She is passionate about empowering women by providing evidence-based information to help them make informed decision for themselves and their families. She strongly encourages women to participate actively in decisions relating to their own health and wellness. She is equally as passionate in academia, and teaches Advanced Health Assessment for the Midwifery & Women's Health Programs at Thomas Jefferson University.
