IEHP Student Wins Full Tuition Perfusion Scholarship

The Institute of Emerging Health Professions is proud to announce first year Perfusion student, Kyle Zelesnick as the recipient of SpecialtyCare’s Brown-Brukardt Perfusion Scholarship.  SpecialtyCare is the largest outsourced employer of perfusionists in the nation.  In memory of long-term perfusion evolvers Jim Brown and Gary Brukardt two scholarships were established to promote leadership and integrity among perfusion students and professionals.

Zelesnick was selected as one of two scholarship recipients nationwide and in addition to his scholarship money, upon completion of the Perfusion Certificate program here at TJU, he will be offered employment by SpecialtyCare, which currently employs 450+ perfusionists.  A career with SpecialtyCare will open doors to specializing in additional skills and participation in industry-leading research projects.

When asked why he decided to pursue a career in Perfusion, Zelesnick said, “Extracorporeal technology is absolutely fascinating to me. My specialized training in this concentration of medicine is dedicated to improving the quality and delivery of healthcare to patients. The world will depend on us, the perfusionists, to be primary team players in elongating life expectancy, and reducing the morbidity of organ systems as individuals encounter malady.”

The Institute of Emerging Health Profession's Perfusion & Extracorporeal Technology program trains students to safely operate the heart and lung machine, and other advanced technologies, during surgical procedures.  This two-year program focuses on a didatic and clinical first year followed by a second year of entirely clinical experience.  Students will leave the program fully prepared to pass the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion. To learn more about our programs, please visit our Academic Programs page.
