Biography

Currently, I work as an Infection Preventionist at Jefferson Health - Center City Philadelphia with a focus on operating rooms, sterile processing, and high-level disinfection.  

My prior roles were as a nurse manager, clinical nurse educator, and bedside RN at Jefferson Health Philadelphia. With over 28 years of nursing experience, I have a deep understanding of healthcare from multiple unique perspectives gained from intensive practice in various specialties across the continuum of nursing from Surgical Trauma ICU to acute spinal cord and brain injury. 

I have over 20 proud and active years in the Medical Reserve Corps of Philadelphia with pandemic, shelter, and natural disaster response experience. I am trained in community emergency response, healthcare chaplaincy, HERT(hospital emergency response team), Psychological First Aid, Handle with Care, Stop the Bleed, QPR (suicide prevention)in addition to extensive FEMA training. 

I earned two bachelor's degrees one in microbiology and one in nursing from the University of Delaware. I earned my Master's degree in Emergency and Disaster Management from Jefferson University.  I have multiple advanced certifications including National Healthcare Disaster Professional, Nurse Manager and Leader, Nurse Executive, Nurse Professional Development, Certified Post-Anesthesia Care Nurse, Certified Ambulatory Care Nurse, Certified GI Nurse, and Jefferson Trauma Nurse Certified.

Special Interest and experience in disability justice, healthcare supply chain logistics, One Health and infectious diseases (bioterrorism, pandemic, hospital-associated infections and evolving pathogens.
