Biography
Dr. Laura Pontiggia received her Laurea in Economics Summa Cum Laude from the University of Pavia, Italy, her Master of Science and Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.
Her current areas of research are statistical approaches for clinical and pharmaceutical data, Models for health sciences and biological data, and educational research. Dr. Pontiggia joined University of the Sciences in 2005 as Assistant Professor of Statistics, got promoted to Associate Professor in 2012 and Full Professor in 2016 and she also served in several administrative roles. In July 2020 she joined Thomas Jefferson University as the Director of Academic Programs for the Institute of Emerging Health Professions and Professor. During her tenure as a faculty, she has taught a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in statistics and she has also been very active in research with numerous collaborations that resulted in more than 40 peer-reviewed publications.
