Meet Our Alumni: Alexander Deron Torcomian, JD
Alex graduated from Jefferson’s Law & Society program in 2014.
Where are you from originally?
Originally from Newtown Square, Pennsylvania.
What was the best part of your time at Jefferson?
I transferred into Jefferson as a sophomore, after attending Shippensburg University my freshman year, and the best part of my time at Jefferson was engulfing myself in the Law & Society Program — the live debates in class, and the Oral Arguments during my Senior year.
What has having a Jefferson degree done for you/how has it prepared you for your career?
Graduating with a Jefferson Law & Society Degree directly positioned me to apply for, get into and graduate law school – as it allowed me to focus on a substantive goal which was hard to achieve over a longer period of time. It has prepared me for my career in a myriad of ways, including but not limited to; allowing me to flourish in a Socratic Method setting in the classroom, helping me understand a dense topic like “the law” prior to attending law school, aiding me in the authoring of voluminous writing projects, desensitizing me from the alleged horrors of reading, writing and case summaries, among other invaluable skills.
What are you doing now?
I am a Luxury Property Specialist with William Raveis Real Estate, located in Naples FL.
What’s something people would be surprised to find out about you?
During the Covid Pandemic, while working remotely, I started a Residential Property Wholesale business which a year later, was eventually merged & acquired by a law school friend’s Title Company.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to our current students?
Get as much face time as you possibly can from Evan Laine. He is a wealth of knowledge, a force of nature in the legal world, and has a particularly incredible mind that forces students to think outside of their norms and truly assemble their best self-moving into the future.
