Meet Our Alumni: Aliyah McLaurin
What did you study at Jefferson?
Law & Society with a minor in Psychology.
Where are you from originally?
Freeport, NY.
What was the best part of your time at Jefferson?
Creating meaningful relationships with my peers and professors. These relationships have guided me to where I am today, and I am thankful Jefferson brought us together.
What has having a Jefferson degree done for you?
It is a great conversation-starter. During interviews, I am often asked about the interesting classes on my transcript at Jefferson and my experiences. I get to brag about Jefferson and the thought-provoking class discussions and papers. They have helped me tremendously in law school, and I am thrilled whenever I am asked about my undergraduate experience.
What are you doing now?
I am currently a law school student at Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University. This summer I am a 2022 Bar Diversity Fellow working at Lamb & Barnosky LLP.
What’s something people would be surprised to find out about you?
I went to dancing school for three years as a child.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to our current students?
Follow through. There can be many distractions within the world, between friends and family, and even mental distractions, but you have to push and fight for what you want and what you deserve.
