Research Interests
Melissa DeGezelle is interested in finding ways toward liberating pedagogy through transformative alternatives to conventional grading and incorporating community-building organizing models for the classroom. She has experience as a birth doula, patient advocate, sexual health teaching associate, poet, and labor activist. She is currently researching extended trauma as it relates to reimagining flow state in writing studies and also rebuilding meaningful connections between students and educators. She primarily teaches writing courses within the Hallmarks program.
