Tony Dang is an E-Shaped interdisciplinary designer and lateral thinking strategist currently based in NYC and working at the intersection of human-centered design and impact-driven innovation strategy.

As a natural born connector-of-dots specializing in brand innovation, Tony Dang’s interest in fashion as a form of communication along with his deep fascination with the impact brands have on culture began at an early age. After teaching himself the art of serigraph at age 15, Tony Dang’s entrepreneurial pursuits and interest in the relationship between consumer behavior and how trends emerge has fueled the development of his empathetic & curiosity-driven approach to using design as the lens through which he develops revenue generating solutions and strategies aimed at connecting the dots between creativity, community, and commerce. In addition to having founded three of his own companies and leveraging over 15 years in the fashion and design industries, Dang also draws on over 10 years of professional experience as a freelance creative consultant, designer and strategist where he has been instrumental in the development and growth of dozens of brands and organizations spanning across a variety of industries.

After earning his bachelor's in multidisciplinary studies from West Virginia University, Dang founded his first company, Halfounceoflife, a private-label menswear brand which was accepted into and showcased in 3 of the top 10 menswear showrooms in the country and eventually sold all across North America. His creative explorations and innate entrepreneurial spirit eventually would lead him to startup his second venture, Xclusive Identity, a boutique design studio specializing in brand development several years thereafter. By 2016, Dang would successfully go on to take on the role of co-founder of his third company, Thread Mechanics, a custom apparel design studio and manufacturing company.

In fall of 2019, Dang moved to New York City to pursue a masters degree in strategic design and innovation management from the globally acclaimed Parsons School of Design, at The New School where he was also the recipient of the coveted Parsons Provost scholarship and The New School’s University’s Scholar Award two years in a row.

His interests include: Impact-driven innovation strategy, brand innovation, circular design & economy, creative entrepreneurship, creative storytelling, and culture as commerce.
