Billy Oglesby, PhD, MBA, MBA, FACHE, Humana Dean of Jefferson College of Population Health, recently announced the establishment of an MHA program designed to prepare students in leadership and management positions aimed at improving healthcare across all sectors.
The timely launch of the program addresses complex challenges in healthcare. Dr. Oglesby states “The U.S. spends over $4 trillion annually in healthcare, and we need leaders who can successfully bend the cost curve while improving quality and expanding access to care. Our MHA program is the next degree offering in a comprehensive portfolio that equips graduates to lead healthcare transformation.”
Our MHA program offers numerous concentrations including: Healthcare Quality & Safety, Population Health, Health Equity, Operational Excellence and Compliance and Regulations, Post-acute Care, and Global Health. Led by expert faculty with real-world experience, the program focuses on the application of effective management and leadership skills to lead change and guide interdisciplinary teams. “Many of the approaches we have adopted over the past few decades require new solutions as technology becomes more critical. This program creates an incredible opportunity for the College of Population Health to have a vital role in cultivating the vision and education needed for the future,” states Mary Reich Cooper, MD, JD, program director. Dr. Cooper goes on to explain, “we want to empower graduates to revolutionize health delivery operational efficiency, and improve health outcomes on a global scale.”
The program consists of 5 semesters with accelerated learning modules and work-focused practicums. Applications are now open for the Fall 2025 admissions. For more information contact Dr. Cooper or visit Jefferson.edu/MHA. You are also invited to attend an upcoming virtual information session.
