Biography
Prior to joining the Jefferson College of Population Health as the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Jeanne served for more than a decade as a leader of Counseling and Behavioral Health at Thomas Jefferson University. Formerly faculty at The University of Pennsylvania, Jeanne came to Philadelphia University in 2013 as the founding director of the Community and Trauma Counseling program, a unique clinical training program that prepares trauma-informed professionals. Upon the merger with Jefferson, she was promoted as Chair of the newly formed Counseling and Behavioral Health Department in the Jefferson College of Health Professions. Additionally, she serves as the founding director of the Jefferson Trauma Education Network (J-TEN), a grant funded initiative focused on education, workforce development, and community impact. As J-TEN director, she is the principal investigator on several federal and foundational grants, and she leads the Philadelphia Trauma Training Conference, an annual convening aimed at growing trauma skills and competencies among health and human service workforces.
Jeanne earned a master’s degree in counseling and a PhD in Education Psychology from the Catholic University of America, and she is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania. She has clinical expertise in the treatment of children, adolescents and families who have endured adverse experiences and traumatic stress. She has served as a clinical supervisor, trainer and consultant for many schools, school districts, organizations, and systems regionally. An active participant in the local and national trauma movement, Jeanne is a Steering Committee member of the Philadelphia Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) Taskforce, a member of the Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services (DBHIDS) Prolonged/Complex Trauma Research and Best Practices Thinktank, and a board member for the Campaign for Trauma Informed Policy and Practice.
