Biography
Dr. Miller brings over 35 years experience in clinical medicine and public health. He currently serves as Executive Director of the Jefferson Center for Injury Research and Prevention (JCIRP). He is a member of the Department of Surgery at Sidney Kimmel Medical College where he is Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery. He also holds secondary appointments as Clinical Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine, and Clinical Associate Professor of Population Health.
Dr. Miller was an attending surgeon at Germantown Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He has also served as Medical Director in Occupational Health at Princeton University, and the Main Line Health System. In addition, he has served as Medical Director of the Lourdes Health System of South Jersey, where he also directed the Osborn Clinic in Surgery for the uninsured.
From 2001 to 2003, Dr. Miller was a Medical Director at Independence Blue Cross and the Intracorps Division of Cigna. His responsibilities included oversight of Utilization Management and membership on various committees dedicated to inpatient care.
Dr. Miller received his Master of Public Health from the Johns Hopkins University, Bloomberg School of Public Health in 2002. He completed a residency in General Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital from 1980 to 1986. He is a 1977 graduate of Haverford College in Haverford, Pennsylvania, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He is also a member of the Sigma Xi Honorary Medical Research Society.
