Biography
Dr. Thind is a physician from the UK who completed her training at the University of Liverpool. She worked in the National Health Service (NHS) before moving to Philadelphia in 2019 to complete a Master of Public Health degree (MPH) at Thomas Jefferson University (TJU). During her time working in the NHS her primary interests were established in psychiatry, most specifically adolescent mental health, community medicine and chronic disease management. While working in community medicine she developed an interest in research while investigating gaps in patient care protocols and how these could be addressed.
Having completed her MPH at TJU, she began working in the Office of Global Affairs where she is now the Director of Research for the India Center. She is involved in several active grants, primarily in India, with a focus on maternal and child health and management of anemia. She is currently working on new grant opportunities with a focus on suicide prevention in low and middle-income countries. Additionally, she completed her teaching fellowship at TJU gaining experience working with the MPH faculty on courses including Health Research Methods and Fundamentals of Statistics for Research. She is thrilled to now be a part of the MPH teaching team and bring her own experience and perspective to teaching courses such as Society, Behavior and the Environment and Health Communication.
With her background in clinical practice and research, Dr. Thind is passionate about bridging the gap between direct patient care and the research that supports this, and working with the multidisciplinary team involved in doing this successfully.
