Dr. Nair is a physical therapist and clinician scientist with a research interest in developing functional, imaging, genetic, and molecular biomarkers to predict recovery outcomes in patients with neurological injuries and diseases. Dr. Nair’s research expertise includes human respiratory functional testing, neural control of breathing, neurorehabilitation, genetics, and molecular biology. At Thomas Jefferson University, he is working on several research projects, which include the development of clinical biomarkers to predict responders from non-responders to neuroplasticity-based interventions in patients with spinal cord injury. He is collaborating with the Departments of Radiology, Gynecology, Neuroscience, and Neurology to develop biomarkers to 1) predict responders from non-responders to neuroplasticity-based interventions in patients with spinal cord injury; 2) monitor early disease progression in asymptomatic patients with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).
