Photi Galanis is board certified in Internal and Vascular Medicine. He has served as the principal investigator for the phase III clinical trial titled “Medially Ill Patient Assessment of Rivaroxaban Versus Placebo in Reducing Post-Discharge Venous Thrombo-Embolism Risk (Mariner).” Furthermore, he was a co-investigator for multiple phase III clinical trials investigating oral anticoagulants. Dr. Galanis oversees quality improvement projects and databases relating to inferior vena cava filter (IVC filter) retrieval as well as transition of care programs for patients discharged on anticoagulation from the hospital. He is currently a co-architect of the Society of Hospital Medicine’s FAST (facilitation of anticoagulation for safer transitions) program, a national quality improvement project designed to improve transition of care processes for hospitalized patients discharged on anticoagulation therapy. He also is the creator of the CATCHem (comprehensive atherosclerosis treatment collaborative health system) program, which is aimed to facilitate the multidisciplinary co-management of patients with peripheral artery disease.
