As Vice President of Administration and Chief of Staff to the Provost and Dean of Sidney Kimmel Medical College, Brian Squilla works directly with senior level management and faculty involving operations, strategic planning and implementation, information technology, human resources, institutional research and budget preparation. He also assists in management of direct reports and with the budget of the academic departments and centers as well as the programs and institutes that fall under the responsibility of the Provost. Mr. Squilla is responsible for establishing and maintaining strong collaborative relationships with deans, faculty and other stakeholders across TJU.

Under the oversight of the Vice President for Administration, the Provost's Office provides centralized services to all faculty to support the application and administration of grants. The Research Administration Center of Excellence (RACE) is a shared service that provides faculty-centric research administration support across Jefferson. Jefferson's Office of Research Administration (ORA) assists researchers in applying for, managing sponsored funding and providing education to support the management of sponsored programs. The Offices of Research Support Services (ORSS) is gaining national recognition for its focus on creating a faculty-centric research administration infrastructure.

The Offices of Research Support Services (ORSS) is comprised of Thomas Jefferson University’s Research Administration Center of Excellence (RACE), Jefferson Clinical Research Institute (JCRI: Business Operations division), Research Compliance, Research Planning and the Office of Research Administration (ORA).

Together, these are the academic offices that provide administrative direction and guidance to the Jefferson research enterprise in support of it research mission.

The offices are responsible for developing policies, procedures, and training related to the institution’s research administration functions. Collaboratively, these academic units support the development and preservation of an environment that encourages and champions research productivity. This collaboration advances ORSS to the next level where further efficiencies are achieved through metrics-driven management.
