As Senior Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education and Affiliations, Dr. John Caruso ensures that residency training programs at Jefferson maintain their strong educational focus, while meeting all accreditation standards and requirements of their specialty boards. His interests include the interface of patient safety, quality improvement and residency training, and novel curricula for resident training. In 2009, he was the lead author of one of the three review articles commissioned by the ACGME to study the relationship between resident duty hours and patient safety. He also works with the UME section of the Sidney Kimmel Medical College Office of the Dean to manage the technology interfaces that are used to evaluate students and catalog their clinical experiences.
