Public health is a very broad field that includes an array of different careers, from epidemiologists (who help prevent the spread of diseases) to marketing and education professionals. Public health efforts are multifaceted, including work to research, monitor, diagnose, educate, develop policies and more to prevent and correct public health issues.

Dentists treat problems with teeth and gums and advise on the best way to maintain good oral health through proper care and diet. They help correct tooth and gum decay, repair teeth, give x-rays and more. Dentistry has a variety of specialties, from general practice to dental surgery, orthodontics and more. 

Jefferson has a Doctor of Dental Medicine (4+4) articulation agreement with Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (DOs) are fully licensed physicians who provide a full range of services. DOs can practice across any medical specialty, prescribe drugs, perform surgeries and more. The difference between DOs and Medical Doctors, or MDs, is the use of osteopathic manipulative treatment, a hands-on method of treatment through stretching, gentle pressure and resistance to move muscles and joints.

Jefferson has Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (4+4) and (3+4) articulation agreements with Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, and a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (4+4) agreement with Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Medical Doctors (MDs) are fully licensed physicians who provide a full range of services. MDs can practice across any medical specialty, prescribe drugs, perform surgeries and more. MDs take an allopathic approach to health, wellness and the treatment of various diseases and ailments.
