Honickman Center Immersive Art in Waiting Rooms Study 2024-26

Based on JCIAH’s previous studies, Jefferson Health commissioned original immersive artworks for multiple waiting rooms serving nine different patient demographics in the new Jefferson Health Honickman Center in Philadelphia.

A true collaboration between design and science across Jefferson University’s Kanbar College and Sidney Kimmel Medical College, implemented in multiple departments at Jefferson Health.

In collaboration with Jefferson Health and Jefferson University, Lyn Godley Studio developed the immersive artwork for display in the newly opened Jefferson Health Honickman Center in Center City, Philadelphia. Original watercolors were scanned and enlarged for printing by Jefferson’s Center for Excellence in Surface Imaging (CESI). The printing was done on a Mimaki UCJV300-130 using type II Dreamscape Wallcovering, which is durable enough to be cleaned in a clinical setting.

Along with the local tech group JG, Jefferson design students assisted in installing and mapping the artwork. Jefferson students at Sidney Kimmel Medical College will participate in the studies to analyze the impact of immersive artwork on patients beginning in early 2025.
