At a Glance
Marketing students at Jefferson will experience guest speakers from various marketing fields who offer real-world insights and networking opportunities. You will engage in hands-on industry projects with local communities and businesses by applying theoretical knowledge to real-world marketing challenges. Participation in business competitions allows you to showcase your skills and innovative ideas, gaining feedback from industry experts. By joining student clubs like AMA collegiate chapter, DECA and School of Business clubs, as well as honor societies like Alpha Mu Alpha and Delta Mu Delta, you will gain additional learning experiences, leadership development skills and professional networking opportunities.
Networking with Industry Professionals
As a marketing student, you will have opportunities to build your network through interactions with professionals in the field. Industry professionals from various marketing fields, such as Jordan DeCicco, founder and COO of Kitu Life Inc. & Super Coffee, and Moss Jacobson, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at CTN Solutions, visiting our marketing classes. DeCicco and Jacobson shared their insights on marketing career paths, entrepreneurship and new technologies in today's market.
Regional Business Competitions
The Jefferson School of Business Case Study Competition Team —Tyler Batman (Marketing), Julianne Tyler (Marketing), and Jared Beaudoin (Finance)—participated in the Spring ’24 Council for Retail and Sales Case Study Competition, securing second place out of nine teams.
Marketing students Tyler Batman and Kyle Hardy, in collaboration with Jared Beaudoin from Finance and Mathew Dolan from Construction Management, participated in the Fall ’23 Council for Retail and Sales Case Study Competition. The team secured a 2nd place finish.
Industry Visits
Marketing students, along with other School of Business students, visited Subaru of America as part of the Discovery Job Shadowing Program. They learned about the company, heard from various marketing teams (Brand Partnership and Experiential Marketing), and added valuable insights to their educational experience and career search.
Student Organizations and Honor Societies
As a Marketing student, you will have opportunities to join various student organizations, including American Marketing Association (AMA) Jefferson chapter and School of Business student clubs. Qualified students can earn recognition as members of the national marketing honor society, Alpha Mu Alpha, as well as the international business honor society, Delta Mu Delta.
Industry/Community Projects
Our project based learning allows students to engage in industry and community projects within their marketing classes to gain hands-on experience in solving real-world problems. In collaboration with the East Falls Development Corporation, students in the Marketing Research class conducted marketing research for small businesses in the East Falls neighborhood. Students in Principles of Marketing class developed marketing plans for new business ideas in the neighborhood, applying their learning to tangible community-based projects.
Business Plus
The Thomas Jefferson University School of Business provides students with unique and curated co-curricular experiences to complement work within the classroom. Business Plus programs aid in hard wiring the idea of discovery and knowledge acquisition into our students. These experiences truly set our students apart in their career pursuits.
