About us
The Department of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Medicine is a large and varied academic department dedicated to carrying out the mission of Thomas Jefferson University, Jefferson University Hospital, and the Jefferson Health Care Network. We proudly sponsor a fully accredited residency training program, fellowship programs, as well as educational programs for medical students. A nationally recognized CME program is offered each year.
Research efforts are focused on a variety of clinical and basic science topics including control of carbohydrate metabolism, improved techniques and novel therapies for perioperative and chronic pain management, perioperative management in cardiac surgery and liver transplantation, transfusion medicine, and large-scale perioperative studies using big data.
