Requirement for Admission to the two-year CODA accredited Advanced Dental Education Program in Orofacial Pain:
Candidate to the OFP Program must graduate from a recognized international dental school with similar curriculum as an accredited US or Canadian Dental School. All transcript must be translated, and grading system compared to the US system. Candidates must have at least a B level or equivalent in their national dental school.
- Candidate must pass the Integrated National Board Dental Exam INBD
- Candidate must be eligible for a Pennsylvania dental training license
- Candidate must have at least three letters of recommendation, one from the Dean of their Dental School

Supporting Materials
The Admissions Committee (Program director and faculty) emphasizes a holistic review process that examines the entirety of an applicant's academic aptitude, motivation, problem-solving skills, leadership potential and life experiences. Admission decisions are individualized to the specific attributes of the applicant.
- Transcripts: Submit official undergraduate and graduate transcripts from all regionally accredited institutions you have attended and/or from which you earned credit. Official transcripts must be sent electronically by the institution to WHO SEND THE APPLICATION @jefferson.edu or mailed to WHERE TO SEND THE APPLICATION. Before applying to Jefferson, please review the prerequisites required for admission for this academic program.
- Personal Statement: In 750 words or less, describe your motivation for pursuing this program at Jefferson, including your educational and professional goals that this program will help you achieve.
- Résumé: A current professional résumé is required.
- Professional License/Certification: Upload your current professional licenses and certifications along with the expiration date.
International Applicants
At Jefferson, we set a high priority on the exchange of ideas, research and education with members of the international community.
- Transcripts: Students who have taken coursework outside of the United States should submit a course-by-course academic credential evaluation from a National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) member credentialing organization. Applicants who do not have a NACES evaluation are required to submit official transcripts, along with an official English translation, to Jefferson for review. Thomas Jefferson University reserves the right to outsource student academic credentials to our NACES member partner for evaluation.
- English Language Exam Requirement: International applicants for this program may be required to submit results from an English Language Proficiency Exam. Applicants may qualify for an English Language Exam Waiver by meeting the criteria below:
- Students from countries where English is the official language.
- Students who studied in the United States for 3 or more years and received a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in the U.S.
- Applicants who don't qualify for an exam waiver may satisfy the English Language Proficiency requirement by submitting one of the following:
- TOEFL: 87 (Reading: 21, Language: 21, Speech: 23, Writing: 21)
- TOEFL Essentials: 9.0 (no sub-score below 8.5)
- IELTS: 6.5 (Reading: 6.5, Speech: 6, Writing: 7)
- Duolingo Exam: 105
