Campus Crime Report/Clery Act
The Clery Act, codified at 20 USC 1092 (f) as a part of the Higher Education Act of 1965, is a federal law that requires colleges and universities to disclose certain timely and annual information about campus crime and security policies. All public and private institutions of postsecondary education participating in federal student aid programs are subject to the Act’s requirements.
On March 7, 2013, the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2013 (VAWA) was signed into law. VAWA includes amendments to the Clery Act. These changes require institutions to disclose statistics, policies and programs related to offenses such as dating violence, domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking.
Thomas Jefferson University is proud to be the first university to receive the National Jeanne Clery Award for our efforts in making Thomas Jefferson University and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital a safe and secure environment. We are also proud to be working together to make our campuses safer for our community.
