Jefferson helps high school students explore career interests and expand their knowledge in science, healthcare, and design through the following academic outreach programs (details below):

SummerScience@Jefferson

Dive into the vital and expanding field of biomedical science with SummerScience@Jefferson, where rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors can build proficiency in real-life research practices.

Dates: Monday, June 23, 2025 - Tuesday, July 22, 2025 (3rd and 4th of July off)
Time: 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. (online (synchronous) via Canvas LMS and Zoom)
Cost: $650 / Financial Assistance available
Location: Online

Registration will open on March 17, 2025. The deadline for the 2025 summer program is May 30, 2025.

Participation is limited to 30 students.


Nursing STEP-UP

Explore the field of nursing with Jefferson’s Summer Training and Enrichment Program (STEP-UP). This program for rising high school juniors and seniors includes SAT prep and personal development workshops.

Dates: June 30th - July 25th
Time:  Mondays – Fridays 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. 
Cost:  Free
Location: Students will begin SAT prep on the first day of the program, continuing through July 14th. Please note that the first week will be fully virtual and dedicated to SAT prep. In-person sessions on campus will take place on campus from July 7th to July 25th, 2025. Light breakfast and lunch will be provided.

JCRS REACH Program for Rehabilitation Sciences

If helping people is your passion, discover the impact you can have in the rehabilitation sciences (occupational therapy, physical therapy, athletic training, exercise science, and speech language pathology). This program for rising high school juniors and seniors includes strategies to navigate the college application process.

CABE Summer Academy for Architectural Disciplines

Thomas Jefferson University's award-winning College of Architecture & the Built Environment is offering a virtual design pre-college course for high school students to explore the architectural design fields including architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, construction management and real estate development. Juniors and seniors will learn from Jefferson faculty, alumni and industry professionals, while participating in design projects, research projects and firm visits conducted in an online environment.

Through hands-on and real-world learning, participants will have the opportunity to explore the architectural fields and look at different study options and career pathways. Working with Jefferson faculty, alumni and current college students, participants will build a deep understanding of the architecture and related design fields. Each participant will be assigned a mentor from the architecture, design and construction industry helping them build the confidence and skills to apply for college beyond this experience.

Dates:

  • Week 1 & 2: July 14-18 or July 21-25 (Required) — Career Discovery Week: Exploring the Architectural Disciplines
  • Week 2: July 21-25 (Optional) — Exploration and Design Week: Take a Deep Dive into your Chosen Discipline: Architecture, Interior Design, or Construction Management
  • Week 3: July 28-August 1 (Optional) — Exploration and Design Week: Take a Deep Dive into your Chosen Discipline: Architecture, Interior Design, Landscape Architecture, or Real Estate Development
  • Week 4: August 4-8 (Optional) — Exploration and Design Week On-Campus

Cost:

  • $300 per week
  • $50 nonrefundable fee due at application (The fee will be waived for registrations completed at least three weeks before the class start date.)

Fashion & Textile Summer Academy

If a career in fashion is calling your name, the Kanbar College of Design, Engineering & Commerce (KDEC) has a summer program for you. This week-long workshop is open to rising freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors, and introduces students to the fields of textile design, fashion design, and fashion merchandising & management. 

Dates: July 14 – July 18, 2025
Time:  Monday – Friday 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. 
Cost: Enrollment in this 5-day workshop is $600, including lunch every day. Scholarships available.
