High Reliability Healthcare Academy

January 8, 2025 - February 26, 2025

8 sessions | Wednesdays 12-1 pm ET

A Leadership Development Program

Taking your organization to the next level requires a culture shift, with everyone in the organization adopting a different way of thinking and working.  Fortunately, many healthcare organizations are on the journey to High Reliability, and you can learn from their successes (and failures).

Now in its sixth year, the High Reliability Healthcare Academy (HRHA) showcases the myriad ways High Reliability Organizing (HRO) looks in practice across the United States, with an emphasis on how unique populations and other contextual variables impact fidelity to the HRO framework. You will learn by doing, with each session interactive, giving you something to take back and practice.

What You'll Learn

This interactive virtual program will break down complex principles into more easily accessible concepts and practice through the demonstration and application of High Reliability Organizing (HRO) principles.

You will learn hands-on techniques to engage with your organization on the journey to becoming a highly reliable organization.

Course Directors

Craig Clapper, PE, CRE, CMQ is one of the pre-eminent experts in High Reliability Organizing in the US. He will serve as the program facilitator, sharing his knowledge and experience with improving reliability across multiple industries.

Mary Reich Cooper, MD, JD who led the rollout of high reliability training for more than 70,000 healthcare workers in Connecticut, will oversee the course.

Program Outcomes

  • Develop working knowledge of HRO principles and how they apply to healthcare.
  • Gain insight into how different organization have adopted (and adapted) HRO principles.
  • Discover how organizational size, geographic area, populations served, culture and leadership can impact the effectiveness of HRO implementations.
  • Build and bolster knowledge of how fundamental tools are used and design novel solutions that create, promote, and support 24-hour reliability for improved care, culture, and operations.

Schedule, Speakers & Session Information

Weekly sessions will feature industry leaders who will share their organizational journey to high reliability — how principles are applied in a variety of healthcare organizations, barriers to adoption, and practical application tools and techniques.
