The goal of our residency program is to train individuals to become excellent physicians and leaders in the field of Internal Medicine. We aim to create thoughtful residents that are clinically sound in all aspects of the specialty. Throughout their three years, residents will experience inpatient time on multiple primary medicine services, as well as primary oncology, pulmonology, cardiology and gastroenterology services which offers early exposure to these specialties and intricacies that are involved in the management of specialty patients.
Our ambulatory curriculum is robust and includes the opportunity for residents to have their own patient panels in multiple different outpatient clinics including our Jefferson Hospital Ambulatory Practice, Jefferson Internal Medicine Associates and the Jefferson Women's Clinic.
The schedule each year is set up in 4+2 system so that each inpatient month is preceded by and succeeded by two weeks of either ambulatory or elective rotations, which helps focus resident education on each respective scope of practice.
