Thank you for your interest in Thomas Jefferson University's Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. An orthopaedic residency at Jefferson represents one of the most comprehensive and widely respected programs in the country. Strong, clinically able physicians have always represented the credo of Jefferson, and this objective still remains uppermost in our goals. Clinical research has been a welcome addition to the orthopaedic program over the past half century, with a progressive commitment to basic research as well.
The current faculty continues these goals of excellence directed to clinical care, clinical and basic research, and teaching. The department is composed of 10 sections, each devoted to a particular orthopaedic specialty. Each subspecialty is a division itself within the department, having its own director, research team, and didactics. Residents currently on the rotation are involved in all facets, and all other residents are encouraged to participate.
The parent institution is Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and the affiliate hospitals include Methodist Hospital, Bryn Mawr Hospital, Riddle Hospital, Riddle Surgery Center, Rothman Specialty Hospital, Riverview Surgical Center, Physician Care Specialty Hospital, Shriners Children's Hospital, and Nemours Children's Hospital.
