Curriculum

Each academic year is divided into 17 three week blocks with carefully selected rotations across multiple sites to provide a complete and robust EM education.

PGY-1

During intern year all EM blocks are at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Emphasis is on learning to provide excellent care to each individual patient.

PGY-2

During this year, four EM blocks are at Methodist, Lourdes, Paoli, and Mercy hospitals with the remainder at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Second year is where volume/patient load is increased.

PGY-3

As in second year, 4 of the EM blocks are at Methodist, Lourdes, Paoli, and Mercy hospitals, with the remainder at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. The focus is now on managing an entire section of the ED, and mentoring junior residents and students.
