Clinical Rotation Sites

Thomas Jefferson University Hospital

This 950 bed, acute care hospital provides quaternary care for Philadelphia and the surrounding region. The majority of clinical rotations take place at this location. Residents rotating here have the opportunity to care for both inpatients and outpatients, and interpret studies in general and subspecialty radiology. Given its location in Center City Philadelphia, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital serves patients from a wide range of socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds, which provides our residents with a diverse educational experience.

Jefferson Hospital for Neuroscience

Jefferson Hospital for Neuroscience (JHN) is the only dedicated hospital for neuroscience in the Philadelphia region. Located one block from Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Center City Philadelphia, Jefferson neurologists, neurosurgeons, radiologists, radiation oncologists and psychiatrists all work together to provide the best care. JHN annually treats the largest combined volume of brain tumors, spinal cord injury, aneurysms and AVMs in the Philadelphia region. Jefferson is both an accredited Level 1 Regional Trauma Center and a federally designated Regional Model Spinal Cord Injury Center. Research, diagnosis, and treatment is also focused on stroke and epilepsy at this hospital. Residents will spend time at JHN during their neuroradiology rotations.

A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children

Nemours Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Delaware is nationally ranked in seven pediatric specialties, and has a university affiliation with Thomas Jefferson. It is a children’s general medical and surgical facility providing primary and specialty care for more than 100 pediatric specialties. DuPont is a 200 bed hospital with a pediatric level I Emergency Department. Residents will complete three separate month-long rotations at DuPont during their second through fourth years of radiology training. Residents will interpret studies with pediatric subspecialty trained radiologists, attend multidisciplinary conferences, and create an interesting case presentation while on the pediatric rotation.

Methodist Hospital

This 200+ bed hospital, located in the heart of South Philadelphia, approximately three miles south of the Jefferson campus, serves a diverse population that includes a large Italian-American community and a growing number of Southeast Asian immigrants. Residents rotating at Methodist Hospital gain exposure to the setting of a small, hospital-based practice, staffed entirely by Jefferson radiologists.

Ambulatory Sites

Residents rotate through several outpatient radiology sites, including Jefferson Center City Imaging (JCCI), the Clinical Office Building (COB), and the Breast Imaging Center (BIC). These sites are located within one block from Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in the heart of Center City Philadelphia, an urban population. Residents have the opportunity to interact with patients and interpret radiologic studies at these sites with subspecialty radiology attendings.
