BUILDING PRIMARY CARE CAPACITY FOR LEADERSHIP AND RESEARCH

Jefferson Primary Care Champions (JeffPCC) (PI: Sifri)

JeffPCC is a 5-year Health Resources and Services Administration grant that provides leadership training for practicing primary care physicians. Fellows complete a one-year fellowship curriculum on leadership, practice transformation, population health, and medical education. Each fellow also completes a quality improvement program in his/her practice. To date, 21 physicians have participated in the program from Jefferson Primary Care and affiliated community health centers. A number of fellows have assumed leadership positions within the Jefferson health system including participation in network research.

·         JeffPCC enhances our ability to conduct research across Jefferson Primary Care by developing leaders amongst our practicing providers.

BEHAVIORAL HEALTH AND WELLNESS

JeffBeWell: Whole Health Integration (PI: Motley):

JeffBeWell is a 5-year HRSA grant with three objectives for Jefferson Primary Care: 1) to advance integrated behavioral health and substance use screening and treatment, 2) advance medication-assisted treatment, and 3) implement and evaluate evidence-based programs that promote wellness for primary care trainees, providers, and practice teams. Efforts to date include an integrated behavioral health educational series, evaluations of Jefferson’s integrated behavioral health program outcomes and employee wellness initiatives, training in treatment of opioid use disorder for primary care providers and evaluation of these services, and enterprise-wide surveys and interviews to assess primary care provider and staff burnout and identify possible interventions.

·         JeffBeWell rigorously evaluates key issues in primary care including behavioral health, treatment of addiction, and provider/ staff wellness.
