Financial Dispute Time Limit

Purpose

This policy identifies the time limit by which a student may appeal a financial charge on their account.

Definitions

Add/Drop Courses: process whereby students may add or drop a course. Refer to Add/Drop Courses policy and Academic Calendar for deadline

Course Withdraw: process and ramification of withdrawing from a course. Refer to Withdraw from Course policy and Academic Calendar for deadline

Tuition & University Fee Refund: provides definitions, policy and schedule identifying percent of refund of semester based on calendar days enrolled. Refer to Financial Aid Office Tuition & University Fee Refund page.

Withdraw from University:  process of withdrawing from the University. Refer to Withdraw from University policy.

Policy

Financial Charges on a student’s account are considered final and without recourse for dispute after one year (12 months) from the date of the charge posting on account.  Students have the right and obligation to monitor and verify the financial charges on their account.  Any disputes regarding a charge must be made within one year (12 months) from the date the charge was posted on the account.

Scope

This policy is applicable to all students who have charges on their account before or after the date of the policy implementation. 

Components

  • Students should regularly check, verify and pay the charges on their account which are viewable on BannerWeb or by contacting the Student Accounts Office. Concerns about a specific charge must be made to the Student Accounts Office by phone, email or in-person. Financial Aid FAQ and contact information 
  • Students should communicate with the Financial Aid Office to ensure they are benefiting from all aid that is available to them. Financial Aid contact information
  • Financial charges on a student account that have exceed one year (12 months) from date of posting are considered final, due and non-disputable.
